Does TiePlan work for both underground and open pit?
Yes. It's one product with two modes, not two tools to learn. Underground gives you ring and stope timing plans with tie-up arrows, per-ring charge tables and N/C holes. Open pit adds bench auto-delay, relief arrows and the burden, spacing, stemming and subdrill columns. You switch mode in Settings and every document adapts. Your drill data stays the same.
How does open-pit auto-delay work?
Pick a starting hole and a firing direction, set your inter-hole and inter-row delays, and TiePlan times every hole for you. Choose echelon for a straight free face or contour for a curved one. Relief arrows show which way each row throws, and any duplicate or out-of-sequence delay is flagged on screen before you print.
Does it work underground with no internet?
Yes. Once you've signed in, TiePlan runs entirely on your computer. Your plans, settings and printed documents never leave the machine. You only need a connection to activate your licence the first time and for the occasional licence check, so it keeps working on a laptop taken underground or out to a remote pit.
What files does it import? Does it work with Deswik?
It reads CSV exports from Deswik and any other drill-design package. It finds the standard columns on its own, like hole ID, ring, collar, depth and charge. If your export uses different names, you map them once with a live preview, then save that as a profile so the next import is a single click.
What documents do I get from one import?
Six, ready to print: cover page, timing plan, charge plan, log sheet, shopping list and checklist. Print one on its own or the whole set at once, each with your logo and language. Blast analysis, like powder factor, charge density and the timing and energy spread, is a live tool on screen, so the numbers update as you tune the plan.
Can I put my logo and wording on the documents?
Yes. Upload your logo once in Settings and it appears on every page. You can rename document labels, headers and checklist items to match how your site does things, and switch the whole app and printed pack between languages, so a plan reads in the words your crew already use.
How is this different from a spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet is a blank page. You build the layout, formulas and print format yourself, then fix them every time a standard changes. TiePlan reads your drill data directly, draws the timing plan for you, catches duplicate delays and loading errors as you work, and hands you six formatted documents ready to sign. There's nothing to rebuild for the next blast.
Is my blast data stored in the cloud?
Only if you want it to be. TiePlan is local-first, so your plans stay on your machine and nothing uploads on its own. That's why it works with no signal underground. If you want a plan backed up or opened on another device, you can save it to the cloud on demand. Licence checks send only an anonymous device fingerprint, never your blast data.
Can several engineers use it on one site?
Yes. A site admin invites engineers, sets their roles, and shares branding and document settings with everyone, so every blast on site follows the same standard. Each person signs in with their own account on their own device, and you pay per seat. Add or remove seats as the crew changes.
How do pricing and the free trial work?
Every account starts with a 7-day free trial of the full product, no watermark. After that it's a base subscription that includes the first seat, plus a small per-seat price for each extra engineer. Add seats as the team grows, or ask us for a quote on larger sites and purchase-order billing. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
What happens when my subscription ends?
The app stops accepting new logins on that device, but nothing is deleted. Your saved plans and CSV files stay on your machine. Renew any time to pick up where you left off, and if you're mid-programme, email support before it lapses and we'll sort out a grace period.
Does it handle metric and imperial units?
Yes. Set your site's units once and every input, column and printed document follows, whether that's metres and kilograms or feet and pounds. There's no manual conversion to do.
How large a pattern can it handle?
Anything from a single development ring to a full production bench of several hundred holes. The timing canvas, duplicate-delay checks and 3D view stay smooth, and the documents split across pages on their own when you print.
Can I open the same plan in two windows?
Yes. Open a second window and your holes, delays, charge and drawings stay in sync within about 150 ms, while each window keeps its own view, zoom and camera. It works on a plain file as well, with no server needed.
Do you help with setup or training?
Every account comes with guided setup and the two-minute walkthrough, and the mapping and settings screens are built to explain themselves. For a site-wide rollout we'll run a short session with your team. Just ask.
Which explosives and detonators can I use?
Set up your own explosives, boosters and detonator types once, each with its delay number, and they flow straight into every charge table, shopping list and timing plan. The pack matches exactly what your magazine stocks.
